How Coaching Can Help You Double Your Income

I’m waiting for this challenge. I’m waiting for someone to reach out to me and say:

“Joe, I want to double my income. Can you help me?” 

My smile will be so big at the opportunity for their personal and professional growth…

    The steps that individual will have to map out to achieve that goal…

        The outside-of-box thinking…

             The Growth Mindset they’ll (have to) develop….

                  The personal journey to climb that mountain….

And at the end, they may have accomplished so much more than they set out to do.

I’d break down this challenge into three stanzas:

1. Your Present Situation:

The obvious data: How much you make now, what it is you do?

Look at the landscape, is there room in your current occupation to achieve this? 

How’s your MINDSET?

What’s your motivation?

...Are you ready?

2. What would your life be like when you do reach your goal?

Simply stated: Are you prepared for the consequences (good or bad) of this journey? Making double may cause you to take job opportunities that you aren’t suited to or deep down don’t bring you fulfillment.

Are you ready to take bold and focused action to achieve this goal?

Are you prepared to dig deep and plan out:

               -Who you need to become… (Do you walk/talk like someone that makes twice your income?)

               -What you need to learn… (Do you have the skills to be this person?)

               -What you need to do… (Are you committed to this action?)

How will your family/friends react? Are they behind you – or will they miss you if you’re working more?

What kind of person do you think this would turn you into?

Are you excited to meet this person?

3. Taking Action

The rubber has now met the road – I make no qualms about it, folks – this journey may take YEARS. Or it could be accomplished in weeks/months depending on your situation and the steps you’re willing to take.

Here we chart the path, meet regularly for accountability, and plan for the setbacks, pivots, new allies, new opportunities, and above all:

TRUST THE PROCESS

…as we march down this path – together.

It won’t be for everyone – not all are prepared to sit in reflection at the hard steps they need to take and the discomfort of that growth and change.

Some people work in a career field where their salary and hours are locked (like me) – so they’ll need to get creative with side hustles, new businesses – maybe even a change in career.

Of course there’s a disclaimer: I can’t guarantee this success – the onus is on you. Only you can guarantee your own success and it starts with MINDSET.

So today I challenge you to reflect on this:  What would your life be like if you doubled your income? Is that something you want?

And then the biggest question arrives – are you ready?
