When did you last invest in yourself?
You are your greatest asset for compounding success.

Think about it... Was it your last degree?
Trade school?
Weekend conference?
What about a spin class, or personal trainer/nutritionist?
I once read someone recommend a 10-10-10-70 annual division of their money:
10% - Invest in your Education
10% - Invest in your Health
10% - Invest in your Finances (Savings)
70% - Living, taxes, etc…
Unfortunately, I can’t find the owner of the model despite Google’s best efforts, however this concept was with me all weekend. I’d like to think (hope) most people are meeting their financial savings goals – but what about investments in health and education?
Example: Say you made $75K/year could you picture yourself investing in the following?
$7.5K – Towards personal Education?
An argument can be made for student loan payments, and I’ll allow it – but that’s a past investment – what’s your plan for self-improvement now? The average CEO is said to read ~5 books a month. At 20 bucks a pop that’s about $100/m = $1,200/y. (Only $5,300 to go!!)
Think about it – what can you spend $5K on this year that would help you meet a goal – or maybe cross off a bucket list item?
$7.5K – Towards Health?
Do you go to a Gym? Yoga or Pilates? (count it!) Paying a little extra at the grocery store for the Organic section? How about a cooking class? Bonus: Massages count too!
Pay out of pocket for health insurance? ($$$) Fair enough, you folks can have a pass but, like student loans, that’s insurance – not an investment. How do you think you would feel if you invested more in your health?
At any rate - Coffee’s ready! Have a great week!

Question for reflection: “How would it feel if you were
strong
in all three of those areas?”
